The Pushy Salesperson

This week whiles putting my bin out I was approached by a young man asking me if he could have a minute of my time so he could speak to me about something very important. I needed to get back up to my flat because I was cooking and I told him this but he practically begged me to stay, so I felt to say no would be rude. He worked for a charity and told me a few things about what they support before handing me a form but not actually telling me what it was for or asking whether I was interested in giving money to this charity so I started to fill out said form (by now its close to 10 mins) when I got to the bottom it had boxes to tick of how much I would like to donate a month and then it had a section where they asked for my bank details. I kindly told the boy that 'I don't have my card on me' because you don't really wanna give your bank details to a stranger in the street now do you? I told him I'd go to the website and check it out he said 'well 'I'll come up to your flat it's only there!' I told him I didn't have a card with me at home and that I was sorry. So he gave me a smug look and said 'well how about your online banking then?' I handed him back his form and said 'I'm sorry I've been here a while my boyfriends probably wondering where I am!' and walked away towards the intercom door. He said well 'I'm coming in does your boyfriend have a bank card?' So I replied 'yes he does but he's won't be interested sorry.' He knocked 2 minutes later anyway, as soon as he saw my boyfriend he said sorry wrong door which I thought was odd. Maybe I have a sign above my head saying 'I'll speak to you' only visible to people like this.

This is not the first time where I've felt backed into a corner by someone wanting me to hand over cash, I once was on my way to work and ended spending £50 on Dead Sea salt products that I didn't want or need purely so a sales lady would let me walk past. She didn't care that she made me late to work, she didn't care that I handed over money that I didn't actually have to give. She just wanted to up her commission. I know it's my own fought I should have just said no right? Well I did say no and these people just don't accept that as an answer. I feel that in order to make someone like this understand you have to be firm with them which is something not many of us are good at because we feel it is rude! Now I've thought about this, If I was at work and I told a client she should buy a shampoo and she said that she didn't want it, I would accept that. Thinking about it, it's actually quite rude to expect someone to buy something they have no interest in. Now don't get me wrong I'm not bashing all sales people, if I go to a make up stand and the person serving me tries to sale me something extra thats fine they have a job to do but pushing things on people they don't want or need is unfair and in actual fact I try to avoid that brand of product after this happens.

So to any body that has a problem with pushy sales people I think the solution is to politely but firmly tell them No I am not interested and if they don't listen well then just carry on walking away. You spoke to them politely and they rudely didn't respect your response. You are not the one being rude - the way I see it now is that you don't have to stand and listen to them and you don't have to make excuses. Maybe next I get a pushy salesperson I might try to sell them something laying at the bottom of my bag and see how they like being pushed into buying crap.

Has this ever happened to you? or are you not as chicken as I have previously been?

Ps I know the start of this post was about a 'charity worker' and that isn't normally seen as a salesperson but I looked up the job and the wages for a fundraiser is performance based, ranging from £9-14. So technically a sales person.

Make up in the 1920s - Photo Heavy Post.

Hi Lovely Readers,
Hope you're all having a lovely day. So as I mentioned before I am obsessed with make up so I thought why not write a post about where I believe it all began. Make up existed before the twenties yes but not in the same way.

NOTD - Red Heart and Cream

So I had some acrylic falsies put on earlier this week, it's not something that happens often for no other reason than I'm too lazy to walk to the nail shop, plus it hurts a little - yes I know I'm a wimp!
Anyone else think it hurts?
They painted my nails a lovely shade of red using an OPI nail polish I wish I got the name of.
I didn't really like having long red nails for some reason, maybe it's the shape.
I decided to paint them this nude colour instead that is in fact called Almost Nude, it's a Collection Lasting Gel Colour currently selling for £2.50 in Boots, to mix it up a little though I decided to add a heart to my ring finger so they didn't look boring, because nobody really likes boring now do they?. To do the hearts I used BarryM Gelly Hi Shine in Blood Orange, £3.99. I definitely would of had all the tips like this with the hearts but I just don't have that sort of skill when it comes to my own nails.

Hope you're all having a lovely day!

ASOS Outfit - BBQ.

Dress - Lipstick - Rings - Necklace - Bag - Shoes - Kimono
All from ASOS.

ASOS is my favourite place to shop online, whenever I fancy a little browse of what the internet has to offer my wardrobe, ASOS is the first place I think to look. What I love about this site is it caters to so many of your needs, you can find an entire outfit for almost any occasion even down what shade of lipstick you want to wear. They have free delivery and returns so you don't have to worry if something doesn't suit/fit you and if you ever have a problem they get back relatively quickly.
So this is going to be the start of my ASOS outfit post - everything in these post will come from the site.

So I thought I'd start out with an outfit for a BBQ seeing as the weather has been pretty decent here in England for a while (a rarity).
I thought I'd go with the monochrome look with a splash of orange/red.
This outfit totals at £183.50.

A cheaper alternative

Beautysets - BBQ outfit 2

Totalling at £62.39

Let me know what outfit you prefer? I still haven't mastered photoshop so I'm using Beautysets for now with these sorts of post.

Hope you're all enjoying your Sunday!

Lipcote Lipstick Sealer

Lipcotes one of those products I've known about for ages even as a small child I knew 'it kept your lipstick on' its been going since the 1950s and although I'm a lover of most things beauty related and very intrigued about products that our Granny's used to use in their day I never really felt like I needed this product in my life but I picked it up on one of my trips to Superdrug because I've been buying a lot of lipsticks recently and just thought why not?
You apply your lipstick bloat with tissue, repeat.
Evenly brush on Lipcote over and slightly beyond lipstick.
Keep lips parted and allow to set.

After applying and allowing to set.

Considering this has been around for such a long time, I thought that it would do the thing it claims to do and do it well - Wrong! It made my lipstick go sticky and cakey within the first hour of me putting it on. After about 2 hours of applying it I had to get it off, it felt disgusting and looked even worst. Below you'll see what I mean and that was only taken after an hour. Now maybe I did something wrong, I don't know, in a way it would be nice if I had so I could make it work another way, if you've used this and it worked for you, let me know how maybe?.
The idea of this product is amazing - who doesn't want there lipstick to last all day? But sadly it just doesn't work for me! I've read reviews about an ArtDeco one called Magicfix that's supposed to be brilliant but its quite pricey so I don't know whether I'm willing to take the risk of buying it and it doesn't work. Anyway this didn't break the bank at  £3.69 but it's still disappointing.

After an hour of wearing, I drank coffee and this happened.

Have you tried this product?  If so how did you feel about it?

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick Swatches

The Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish lipstick collection have been around for a while now and have a wide range of colours so there is something for everybody's skin tone. All of these lipsticks have pretty much the same formula, they are very pigmented and have excellent staying power, the lipsticks don't bleed and you can also wear the darker shades (01, 107, 111) as a stain by applying the lipstick and blotting it off with tissue to give that bee stung look rather than a bold lip. They can be quite drying so I recommend using a lip balm before applying to prime the lips, if you have chapped lips and exfoliating them doesn't help then you should probably stay away from these while you lips are suffering as they will probably make your lips look 10 times worst.

My favourite have to be 01 as it's the first one I purchased and 107 because it's such a vampy colour, it's only been worn twice though as it really washes me out, when winter comes I'll be trying to make it work for me again as I love it.

These lipsticks retail at £5.49 but you can sometimes find them cheaper on sites like Fragrance Direct.

Have you tried any of these? What's you Favourite one?
